Job Description
This role involves leading the operations engineering team to ensure the highest quality and manufacturing excellence of Pure Storage hardware products throughout their lifecycle, from design and development to high-volume production, by managing quality metrics, driving process improvements, and collaborating across cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end product quality lifecycle from New Product Introduction (NPI) through sustaining production.
- Lead Design for Excellence (DFx) activities to ensure zero-defect design release into high-volume production.
- Coordinate failure analyses with global suppliers, implement root cause analysis, and apply corrective actions.
- Develop process documentation, establish manufacturing quality standards, and provide manufacturing input during design reviews.
- Drive process improvements within manufacturing operations to enhance efficiency, consistency, and cost savings.
Requirements
- Experience in production quality management systems and methodologies, including PCB Assembly System Test processes, failure analysis, and product lifecycle management (PLM) tools like Agile.
- Proven success in collaborating with global, cross-functional teams including Engineering, Supply Chain, Test, Quality, and Contract Manufacturers to uphold and elevate the highest product quality standards.
- Deep expertise in managing the product quality lifecycle, including metrics management and driving continuous improvements from PCBA subassembly manufacturing, to system integration, and through to field performance.
- Ability to lead Design for Excellence (DFx) activities including cost, quality, manufacturing, and reliability to ensure a zero-defect design is released into high-volume production.
- Experience coordinating comprehensive failure analyses with global suppliers, implementing swift root cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
- Experience serving as the technical operations lead for a hardware product, developing process documentation, establishing manufacturing quality standards, and providing manufacturing input during schematic and design reviews.
- Ability to drive key process improvements within manufacturing operations to enhance efficiency, consistency, and cost avoidance, directly impacting customer satisfaction and business margins.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and quality metrics to diverse audiences, from production line operators to executive leadership.
- Strong, solution-oriented drive with demonstrated ability to influence partners, remove blockers, and achieve significant results in a fast-paced, high-growth hardware environment.
- Physical ability and willingness to work onsite at the Santa Clara office in accordance with company policies, unless on PTO, work travel, or other approved leave.
