A Systems Engineering Manager at Pure Storage leads and mentors a team of pre-sales engineers, driving technical strategy, customer engagement, and sales support for innovative data storage solutions, including all-flash storage, cloud, and AI-driven technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and mentor the Systems Engineering team to drive performance and growth.
Manage technical partnerships with large System Integrators for joint sales efforts.
Develop and execute an annual operating plan to achieve business objectives.
Guide account teams on activities to increase deal success and revenue growth.
Understand customer business drivers and translate them into technical solutions.
Collaborate with sales and technical teams to create a seamless customer experience.
Present technical product and architecture solutions to customers to secure technical wins.
Capture customer requirements and design innovative storage solutions.
Respond to RFI, RFP, and RFQ proposals with technical expertise.
Identify and pursue new opportunities for interoperability, testing, and validation.
Liaise with marketing to produce technical materials supporting product positioning.
Stay current with industry trends, competitors, and emerging storage architectures.
Lead by example, embodying company values and fostering a customer-first approach.
Requirements
Experience in supporting the sales of enterprise storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software to enterprise accounts
Experience in both pre-sales and partner enablement
At least 5 or more years of relevant people manager experience
Deep understanding of the architecture, design, and implementation of multi-tiered client-server and web-based computing solutions
Prior experience in targeting new prospects and converting them into clients
Contribute significant portions and/or lead responses to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
Familiarity with modern web architecture such as LAMP stack, scale-out vs scale-up architectures, AWS well-architected framework, microservices architecture (plus if applicable)
Superior knowledge of current and emerging storage architectures including FC, iSCSI, NAS, OSD, SAN
Experience with Linux, NFS file systems, and Linux distributed network environments
Strong knowledge of digital transformation to Cloud Native architecture, On-Prem, Public Cloud, Provisioning Automation, and Containers (plus if applicable)
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP (plus if applicable)
Client-facing experience in proposing AI/ML solutions (plus if applicable)
Experience with installation and configuration of distributed computing, multiprocessing, virtual memory subsystem, storage subsystems architecture, shared memory architectures, cache architectures, windowing systems (plus if applicable)
Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical degree, or equivalent experience
Curiosity and passion for technology and explaining/showing new technology platforms and concepts to customers
