Job Description

A Fire Extinguisher First Aid Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, repairing, and maintaining fire extinguishers and first aid kits, providing customer support, and ensuring safety compliance across various facilities. The role involves working independently in the field, adhering to safety standards, and delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, testing, service, and repairs of fire extinguishers according to standards, codes, and manufacturer requirements
  • Record and document inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations
  • Survey facilities for fire and safety needs and reference applicable requirements
  • Stock and maintain fire extinguishers and first aid kits on customer routes
  • Provide customer support by creating quotes, answering questions, and following up to ensure satisfaction
  • Maintain and service company vehicle, keeping it organized and stocked with necessary parts and supplies

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid state issued driver s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain all licensing required within 90 days of hire.
  • ICC NAFED Fire Extinguishers Certification within 90 days of employment.
  • FEX-1 Extinguishers certification within 90 days of employment.
  • 1 year of experience in performing inspection, testing, service, and repair of Fire Extinguishers preferred, training provided.
  • Working knowledge of National Fire Protection Association NFPA 10 Standards Servicing Guidelines and local authorities having jurisdiction AHJ preferred.
  • Ability to constantly lift and carry items such as toolboxes, tools, equipment, cylinders, and parts up to 25-50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to occasionally move lift with assistance or lifting device weighing 76-110 pounds.
  • Ability to constantly push or pull up to 25-75 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, and stretching.
  • Perform inspection, testing, service, and repairs as required for all types of fire extinguishers as mandated by Standards and codes, manufacturers requirements, and company expectations.
  • Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations accurately.
  • Survey facilities for fire and safety needs and reference any requirements needed.
  • Provide customer support in creating quotes, answering questions, laying out fire equipment needs, and following up on all jobs to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Service and maintain company vehicle according to manufacturer’s recommendations and company policy.
  • Maintain clean and organized vehicle, keeping it stocked with parts, equipment, and supplies necessary to perform the job.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations and laws.
  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Ability to comply with safety requirements of the position and actively promote safe work practices.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Must be flexible with driving over 2 hours of paid time to and from jobs.
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and in varying climate temperature conditions.
  • Able to work in environments with fumes or airborne particles and moderate noise levels.
  • Ability to constantly lift and carry up to 25-50 pounds unassisted.
  • Occasionally move lift with assistance or lifting device weighing 76-110 pounds.
  • Ability to constantly push or pull up to 25-75 pounds.
  • Candidates must be able to perform other duties as assigned.
