Job Description
A Senior Project Engineer at Plus Power is responsible for evaluating, developing, and supporting the technical aspects of energy storage projects, including site assessment, risk analysis, cost estimation, and project management throughout the development cycle to ensure safe, reliable, and optimized project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess energy storage technologies and site layout options for project performance and risk mitigation
- Analyze and present technical risks and develop de-risking solutions
- Develop project capital and operational cost estimates and milestone schedules for financial valuation
- Provide technical and project management support throughout the development cycle
- Support offtake, equipment procurement, and engineering and construction contracting activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in technical roles or fields related to Power, Energy, Renewables, or BESS with familiarity of industry-specific terminology
- Experience in Power, Energy, Renewables, or BESS with familiarity of industry-specific terminology
- Knowledge of value proposition and technical fundamentals of energy storage development
- Demonstrated success with technical-commercial contract negotiations to support offtake, equipment supply, engineering, and construction agreements
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members who are geographically dispersed
- Proactive mindset to identify risks or obstacles ahead of time and drive solutions
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to analyze complex information and make sound, timely choices aligned with organizational goals
- Persuasive, clear, and concise writing and presentation skills
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools and applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically approximately 25% of the time
- Ability to assess energy storage technologies and site layout options with respect to long-term project performance requirements
- Ability to analyze, assess, and present project technical risks and determine de-risking solutions
- Ability to develop project capital and operational cost estimates and milestone schedules for use in project financial valuation models
- Ability to provide technical and project management support throughout the development cycle, including site visits, interfacing with third-party consultants, and supporting meetings with local project authorities
