Job Description

This role involves supporting the operation and maintenance of a large constellation of Earth observation satellites through data analysis, automation, and troubleshooting, contributing to the company's mission of providing valuable satellite imagery and data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day satellite operations, including assessments based on data analysis
  • Triage and resolve satellite anomalies in space
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate mission operations and aggregate satellite data
  • Perform daily checks on the satellite fleet
  • Test and roll out software updates on ground and in space
  • Develop procedures in collaboration with hardware and software experts
  • Create and improve tools for automating satellite operations
  • Use metrics and data analysis to assess satellite performance and health
  • Lead standalone projects to optimize satellite operations

Requirements

  • Ongoing Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering, Software, or Science related field from an accredited college or technical school
  • Software development experience in Python or equivalent programming language
  • Passion for space technology and its applications
  • Self-starter that proactively tackles problems and brings in their own ideas
  • Data-driven mindset and comfort with statistical analysis
  • Team player with outstanding communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to support day-to-day operations, including making assessments based on data analysis, triaging and resolving anomalies, running on-orbit experiments, testing and rolling out software on the ground and in space
  • Ability to develop and enhance existing tools to automate operations
  • Perform daily checks on the satellite fleet
  • Identify, triage, determine root cause, and resolve satellite anomalies in space
  • Develop and maintain scripts to aggregate satellite data and generate metrics
  • Use existing and new metrics for data analysis to make assessments about the performance and health of the satellites
  • Proactively improve existing processes
  • Lead standalone projects to shape satellite operations
  • Experience with automation and software development tools such as Jenkins, Bash, Git
  • Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD concepts
  • Experience working with large amounts of data and APIs
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment, including working from the Berlin office 2 days per week
  • Access to U.S. and German EU export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by German, EU, or U.S. authorities
