Job Description
This role involves developing and optimizing geospatial and time series analytics models using machine learning techniques for satellite data, with a focus on defense and intelligence applications, collaborating across teams to drive innovation and deploy solutions at a global scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain geospatial and time series analytics models for satellite data.
- Implement novel algorithms such as embeddings-based change detection and advanced computer vision techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, validate model outputs, and refine algorithms.
- Deploy models at continental and global scales using containerization and cloud infrastructure.
- Evaluate model performance rigorously and improve algorithms iteratively based on insights.
- Contribute to the advancement of geospatial analytics through innovation in ML techniques.
- Ensure seamless integration of machine learning pre-processing and inference steps with software engineering teams.
Requirements
- Ten years of relevant experience, including at least six years of experience in machine learning.
- Ability to conduct a rigorous evaluation of results and internal communication of algorithm failure modes.
- Expertise with data science, time series methods, computer vision, and embeddings.
- Ability to implement, train, and optimize neural networks.
- Experience wrangling large datasets, ideally with geospatial libraries, combined with frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow for model development and training.
- Ability to experiment with model architectures, and derive data-driven insights to iteratively improve performance and accuracy.
- Experience writing clean, modular Python code and applying software development best practices such as Git, testing, and CI/CD.
- Experience deploying models via Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologies, with an understanding of best practices for monitoring and maintaining models at scale.
- AWS or GCP cloud experience.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical topics to diverse audiences.
- Graduate degree in a STEM or analytics-focused field or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to work and commute to Arlington, VA, in the Washington, DC metro area, three days per week.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance.
