Job Description
A Senior Security Engineer, Embedded Software at Planet is responsible for developing and reviewing security tools, conducting security assessments, and maintaining systems to ensure the security of satellite and ground-based space systems, with a focus on embedded software and cybersecurity practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and automate security tools for satellite systems
- Conduct security reviews and code reviews of satellite and ground software
- Design security measures and perform security assessments of satellite systems
- Set up and test launch racks and lab equipment for security purposes
- Perform penetration testing on satellite and ground systems
- Maintain and monitor systems critical to the SatSec team's mission, such as Hardware Security Modules and network traffic analysis
Requirements
- Experience with embedded systems.
- Experience with encryption and cyber security concepts.
- Six (6) years of work experience in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a similar field.
- Proficient in C and Python programming languages.
- Familiarity with open source tools and frameworks.
- Excellent technical skills and interpersonal skills.
- This position requires access to export-controlled information, and employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate's ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.

Salary range of $144,500 - $180,600 USD (dependent on experience, skills, and location)
