The role involves maintaining and operating a large constellation of Earth observation satellites by supporting daily operations, automating mission processes, analyzing data, and resolving anomalies to ensure satellite health and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Support day-to-day satellite operations, including assessing data, triaging, and resolving anomalies
Develop and maintain scripts to automate mission operations and generate performance metrics
Perform daily checks on the satellite fleet to ensure safety and functionality
Identify, diagnose, and resolve satellite anomalies in space
Test and deploy software updates on ground and in space
Analyze satellite data and metrics to assess satellite health and performance
Proactively improve operational processes and develop new tools for satellite management
Lead standalone projects to optimize satellite operations
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering, Software, or Science related field from an accredited college or technical school.
Software development experience in Python or equivalent programming language.
Proven ability to proactively tackle problems and bring in their own ideas as a self-starter.
Data-driven mindset and comfort with statistical analysis.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to support day-to-day operations of satellite constellation, including making assessments based on data analysis, triaging and resolving anomalies, running on-orbit experiments, testing and rolling out software on the ground and in space.
Experience in developing and maintaining scripts to aggregate satellite data and generate metrics.
Ability to develop and enhance tools to automate operations.
Experience in performing daily checks on satellite fleet and identifying, triaging, root causing, and resolving satellite anomalies in space.
Proficiency in using existing and new metrics for data analysis to assess satellite performance and health.
Ability to proactively improve existing processes and lead standalone projects to improve satellite operations.
Understanding of automation and software development tools such as Jenkins, Bash, Git.
Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD concepts.
Experience working with large amounts of data and APIs.
Understanding of space environment and space operations.
Ability to work in an agile environment.
Willingness and ability to work in a hybrid role requiring presence in the Berlin office 3 days per week.
Eligibility to access U.S. and German export-controlled information without additional export licensing, which may require the ability to access all applicable export-controlled information.
