Job Description
A Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer responsible for mission design, orbit determination, maneuver planning, and optimization for Planet's satellite constellation, developing software tools to enhance satellite operations and support future missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop software solutions for mission design of satellite fleets
- Work on complex optimization problems related to flight dynamics and software engineering
- Improve satellite operations and enable future missions through software development
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, physics or related technical field
- 6 years of total relevant experience in orbital mechanics and space mission operations
- Experience in orbital mechanics and space mission operations
- Advanced software development experience in C and Python
- Ability to carry out first-principles analysis and operationalize MVP solutions
- Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills
- Application must have access to export-controlled information, and the candidate must be able to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $127,000 - $180,600 USD depending on location and experience
Work schedule: Full-time, remote position with an expectation to work from an office 3 days per week if located near an office
