Job Description
The role involves designing and overseeing the electrical systems of Planet's satellite constellation, from concept to manufacturing, including schematic capture, testing, and integration, to support the deployment of space-based imaging technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for satellite subsystems, including analog, power, thermal, and mixed signal components.
- Create schematics, perform signal integrity simulations, and review layout designs for electrical components.
- Design harnesses by selecting components, defining signals, and coordinating with mechanical engineering for fabrication.
- Oversee validation and qualification testing of electrical designs, including EMI/EMC and interoperability assessments.
- Support manufacturing and systems teams with electrical subsystem integration.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace, or a related field
- 6 years of experience in taking designs from schematics to manufacturing
- Experience with power, analog, and mixed signal PCB design
- Experience with Altium tools for PCB design
- Experience using lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters
- Excellent solder rework skills
- Experience with embedded systems and peripheral interfaces such as I2C, SPI, USB, CAN, Ethernet, etc.
- Ability to make decisions regarding design and implementation
- This position requires access to export-controlled information, and employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate’s ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls

Salary range: $162,600 - $203,200 USD (based on experience, skills, and location)
