Job Description
The Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Planet's multi-cloud network infrastructure, focusing on cloud networking in GCP and AWS, ensuring security, scalability, and automation within an agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage complex network solutions for data centers and cloud environments (AWS and GCP).
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for network automation and provisioning.
- Configure and manage network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Ensure network security best practices are implemented and maintained.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network reliability, security, and scalability.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support network operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 6 years of experience in network engineering
- Extensive experience with AWS and GCP cloud networking including VPCs, Route Tables, Security Groups, NACLs, etc.
- Experience with application networking requirements such as Load Balancers, HA-Proxy, Nginx, etc.
- Experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, with Terraform preferred, and experience with Ansible or Crossplane
- Experience working in an Agile development environment
- Advanced understanding of networking protocols and technologies including BGP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, etc.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with configuring and managing network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, Juniper switches, VyOS, Aruba wireless and switching solutions, and Ubiquiti UniFi equipment
- This position requires access to export-controlled information, and employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate's ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls

Salary range: $162,600 - $203,200 USD (dependent on experience, skills, location)
