Job Description

The Pre-Sales Solutions Architect at Planet is responsible for demonstrating the value of Planet's earth observation data and services to clients in the Asia Pacific region, supporting sales efforts, building customer relationships, and collaborating with internal teams to tailor solutions that meet customer needs, primarily within the defense and intelligence sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the value of Planet's data and services through presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Build relationships with customer technical and management staff as a trusted advisor.
  • Recommend solutions architecture to address customer business challenges.
  • Assist in responding to tenders, RFIs, RFPs, and proposals with product solution information.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to incorporate customer feedback and improve offerings.
  • Achieve sales and operational objectives through account development and engagement strategies.
  • Present to government stakeholders within the APJ region.
  • Mentor team members and lead training sessions to support their development.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain eligibility for access to Specially Designated Secrets under the Act on the Protection of Specially Designated Secrets.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of experience supporting the Japanese Ministry of Defense community.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 50%, primarily around the APJ region, but also to Europe and the United States.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional working proficiency in English, the language of the company.
  • Experience working with GIS and Remote Sensing users within the Japan Ministry of Defense.
  • Experience in IMINT, ISR, and related fields.
  • Experience with QGIS, SocetGXP, ArcGIS, GDAL, and other common geospatial software packages.
  • Ability to successfully communicate and coordinate with international customer sales teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and proactive working style.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to program with Python to process imagery, manipulate vector data, interact with APIs, and build data pipelines.
  • Ability to lead customer engagements.
  • Ability to run workshops or training sessions with users.
