Job Description
The role involves leading and managing the company's SOX compliance program, including risk assessment, internal control evaluation, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective internal controls and audit processes across business and IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the SOX Compliance Program, including risk-based planning, scoping, testing, and reporting.
- Serve as the primary liaison to external auditors, coordinating audit activities and resolving findings.
- Develop expertise in business processes, IT applications, and data flows impacting financial reporting.
- Conduct risk assessments and lead SOX scoping for new systems, processes, and infrastructure changes.
- Design, implement, and evaluate business process controls in collaboration with various business units.
- Partner with IT Internal Audit to align SOX testing strategies and reliance opportunities.
- Oversee documentation quality, ensuring completeness and adherence to SOX standards.
- Evaluate control testing for compliance with SOX and SEC requirements.
- Monitor and address control deficiencies, supporting remediation and control maturity.
- Identify opportunities to streamline controls through automation and workflow simplification.
Requirements
- Ten years of experience in audit, risk management, internal controls, and SOX compliance at a public company.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Deep understanding of SOX, COSO, PCAOB SEC requirements, and internal control design and evaluation.
- Ability to build and execute risk-based audit plans aligned with business and IT risks.
- Solid project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional alignment and leadership engagement.
- Experience collaborating with external auditors and managing stakeholder expectations.
