Job Description
The Global Supply Manager at Planet is responsible for leading strategic procurement, managing supplier relationships, and coordinating supply chain activities to support satellite manufacturing and engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic component procurement, including developing purchasing plans and ensuring material availability for critical timelines
- Define and monitor key performance metrics such as cost reductions and vendor management
- Manage costs and participate in program spend reviews
- Analyze component lifecycle status and influence engineering design updates
- Collaborate with supply planners and project managers to meet demand and expedite deliveries
- Onboard, manage, and develop relationships with suppliers
- Propose new technologies and vendors to engineering teams
- Review and negotiate contracts with suppliers
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in a production environment, executing and delivering results to leadership.
- Experience in onboarding and managing suppliers, heavy roadmap review, and proposing new technologies and vendors to Engineering.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across an organization, including interpersonal, small, and large groups, and with executives.
- Ability to think strategically and execute tactically, with persistent attention to details and a high level of comfort working with numbers.
- Ability to deliver on operational requirements while leading projects and initiatives with competing deadlines.
- Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills with the ability to learn technical applications quickly.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Ability to analyze, create, and manage complex structured Bills of Materials (BOMs) and configurations.
- Proficient in using ERP and procurement tools such as Netsuite and Coupa.
- Thorough understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems like Arena and Teamcenter.
- Ability to interpret export/import policies, including EAR, ITAR, and HTS, and work with Compliance teams and suppliers to draft and manage export requests and technology control plans.
- Access to export-controlled information without requiring additional export licensing, as employment or contracting is contingent upon this ability.
