Job Description
This internship involves developing satellite-based analysis products for agriculture, focusing on water use efficiency and irrigation scheduling by utilizing remote sensing data and models to monitor environmental stresses and support sustainable farming practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate methods for detecting water stress using satellite imagery
- Implement and assess surface evapotranspiration models under various conditions
- Analyze performance of models using ground data from partners and international networks
- Explore innovative irrigation scheduling techniques in collaboration with customers
- Contribute to the development of analysis-ready satellite products for agriculture
- Utilize remote sensing data and planetary variables to characterize surface energy, water, and carbon budgets
- Participate in applied research to advance remote sensing science and develop new imagery products
Requirements
- Experience with scientific computing using Python in a Unix Linux environment
- Knowledge of remote sensing fundamentals and experience working with different types of remote sensing data
- Ability to be hands-on, be self-motivated, and think creatively
