Job Description

The role involves developing and managing sales pipelines to sell Planet's geospatial imagery solutions to government intelligence, defense, and national security clients in Japan, including navigating procurement processes, closing deals, and building strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the sales pipeline to achieve or exceed sales targets in government and defense sectors in Japan.
  • Identify, qualify, negotiate, and close large and medium-sized deals with government customers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Japanese government agencies and partner ecosystems.
  • Collaborate with marketing and business development teams to generate new sales opportunities.
  • Manage the government procurement process and contract negotiations.
  • Work with pre-sales and post-sales teams to ensure technical validation, onboarding, and ongoing customer success.
  • Forecast sales opportunities accurately and maintain pipeline hygiene using CRM tools.
  • Create tailored customer presentations and proposals to demonstrate the value of Planet’s solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate professional experience
  • Experience successfully finding and winning business with Government customers, such as the Military of Defense, an Intelligence account, or similar
  • Excellent relationships across Japanese Government and the partner ecosystem
  • 6 years of related experience in Enterprise Solution Sales required along with a successful track record
  • 6 years of experience selling to government customers, including understanding the nuances of Government sales cycles and how to navigate through the process
  • Experience with Salesforce.com or a similar CRM System
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to negotiate and persuade effectively
  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in English, the working language of the company, and Japanese
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the year
  • Experience with military or defense intelligence, including military experience or as a relevant intelligence professional (preferred but not mandatory)
