The Strategic Purchaser is responsible for evaluating and managing suppliers, negotiating costs, developing strategic commodity plans, and supporting supply chain efficiency through collaboration with internal teams and global sourcing efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate, qualify, and manage suppliers to ensure quality, delivery, and cost objectives
Conduct cost analysis, negotiate pricing, and lead cost savings initiatives
Develop and execute strategic commodity plans and supplier contracts
Perform risk management activities for assigned commodities
Lead quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers
Collaborate with global purchasing teams to leverage spend and technological advancements
Research market and economic trends affecting supply segments
Maintain and update supplier and purchased item data in ERP system
Support new product development and procurement processes
Participate in supplier qualification, development, and audit programs
Establish supplier managed inventory programs to optimize inventory turns
Interface with internal teams such as Operations, Engineering, and Quality to support procurement needs
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or another relevant field.
3 years relevant professional-level work experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability implementing strategic projects to support corporate goals.
Demonstrated ability working under pressure and handling multiple tasks.
Mathematical and statistical analysis skills.
Detail oriented with high level of accuracy.
Demonstrated ability communicating effectively at all levels of an organization.
Refined knowledge of and skill in MS Office Suite.
Knowledge of and skill in ERP procurement modules.
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Must be able to speak and understand English to communicate verbally and in writing.
Regular and on-time attendance.
Domestic and international travel required.
This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days in the office.
