Job Description
The Sales Engineer OEM role involves driving sales of Phoenix Contact products through technical support, relationship building, and account management within a dynamic team, focusing on identifying growth opportunities and supporting the sales pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales of Phoenix Contact products by identifying growth opportunities and building customer relationships
- Support the sales process by understanding customer needs, recommending solutions, and providing technical support
- Achieve or exceed sales quotas through ongoing communication, relationship development, and collaboration with stakeholders
- Prepare proposals, presentations, and sales materials; maintain accurate CRM data and utilize sales tools effectively
- Develop and deliver product presentations and demonstrations to promote product solutions
- Qualify and follow up on sales opportunities within assigned accounts and manage quotations
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop field presentations and application notes
- Track and report on business development activities and performance metrics
- Develop and implement mutual action plans with customer locations to foster growth and engagement
Requirements
- Must be able to travel via airplane and automobile for up to six hours at a time, including overnight travel 20-25 times per year.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must comply with company dress code guidelines.
- Must demonstrate punctuality and regular, on-time attendance.
- Possess a four-year degree (preferred) or equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
- Have a minimum of 1 to 3 years of sales experience in the electronics or industrial automation controls marketplace.
- Experience working with distribution is preferred.
- Be comfortable conducting regular outreach and check-ins with assigned accounts to maintain engagement and uncover new opportunities.
- Must demonstrate technical competence on all products and solutions within the area of focus.
- Must be able to develop and maintain a working knowledge of all Phoenix Contact products and solutions.
- Must qualify and follow up on all opportunities within the assigned account portfolio, including follow-up on all quotations.
- Support the preparation of proposals, presentations, and sales materials.
- Maintain and update CRM systems with accurate client information and fully utilize CRM as a communication, reporting, measurement, and tracking tool.
- Generate new opportunities within assigned accounts through ongoing communication, relationship development, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Meet or exceed territory sales quotas as established by the RSM and/or Vice President of Field Sales.
- Be proficient in BASE selling skills and implement them to build strong customer relationships.
- Support the development of field presentations and application notes in collaboration with the Harrisburg Product teams.
- Deliver presentations and hands-on demonstrations of Phoenix Contact products, applications, and technology.
- Provide forecasts and reports to RSM as required.
- Independently and/or with regional management, develop and implement effective Mutual Action Plans with assigned customer locations.
- Support personal development through an effective skill-building program as determined by the RSM, Director of Sales, and/or Harrisburg Training Department.
