Job Description

A hands-on sales engineering role focused on driving product sales, building customer relationships, providing technical support, and identifying growth opportunities within the industrial automation and electronics marketplace in the Western PA and West Virginia regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales of Phoenix Contact products within the assigned territory by identifying opportunities and building customer relationships.
  • Support the sales process through technical support, proposals, presentations, and product demonstrations.
  • Maintain accurate CRM data, track business activities, and report on performance metrics.
  • Develop and implement strategic account plans and mutually agreed action plans with customers.
  • Qualify sales opportunities, follow up on quotations, and ensure customer needs are met.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Product and Application Engineering, to develop sales materials and customer solutions.
  • Achieve or exceed sales quotas through regular customer outreach and relationship management.

Requirements

  • Must be able to travel via airplane and automobile for up to six hours at a time, including overnight travel of 20-25 nights per year.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to comply with company dress code guidelines.
  • Must demonstrate punctuality and regular, on-time attendance.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 to 3 years of sales experience in the electronics or industrial automation controls marketplace.
  • Experience working with distribution is preferred.
  • Four-year degree preferred or technical discipline preferred and/or equivalent experience.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Must be proficient in BASE selling skills and able to implement them to build strong customer relationships.
  • Must be able to generate new opportunities within assigned accounts through ongoing communication, relationship development, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Must be able to support the preparation of proposals, presentations, and sales materials.
  • Must maintain and update CRM systems with accurate client information and fully utilize CRM as a communication, reporting, measurement, and tracking tool.
  • Must demonstrate technical competence on all products and solutions within the area of focus.
  • Must be able to qualify and follow up on all opportunities within the assigned account portfolio and follow up on all quotations.
  • Must be comfortable conducting regular outreach and check-ins with assigned accounts to maintain engagement and uncover new opportunities.
  • Must develop and maintain a working knowledge of all Phoenix Contact products and solutions.
  • Must deliver presentations and hands-on demonstrations of Phoenix Contact products, applications, and technology for product sales.
  • Must develop and implement effective Mutual Action Plans with assigned customer locations, independently or in conjunction with regional management.
  • Must provide forecasts and reports to RSM as required.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work closely with teams and collaborate effectively, including supporting the development of field presentations and application notes.
  • Must be able to travel as required by the territory and job duties.
