Job Description

The Sales Engineer is responsible for driving sales of technical and industrial products by combining engineering expertise with interpersonal and business skills, providing technical support, developing customer relationships, and achieving sales targets within a designated territory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales of technical and industrial products by identifying customer needs and recommending solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular sales calls and effective communication.
  • Develop and implement sales plans and forecasts for assigned territories and accounts.
  • Deliver product presentations and demonstrations to promote solutions and applications.
  • Provide technical support and act as a consultant on control cabinet, machine mounted, and industrial networking solutions.
  • Qualify leads, follow up on quotations, and manage all sales activities within the territory.
  • Collaborate with marketing and regional teams to develop presentations, application notes, and account strategies.
  • Utilize sales tools and resources to maximize productivity and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in a technical discipline preferred and/or equivalent industrial industry experience.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of sales experience in the electronics marketplace.
  • Experience working with distribution is preferred.
  • Must be able to travel via airplane and automobile for up to six hours at a time.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to travel overnight 20-25 nights as dictated by assigned territory.
  • Must be able to comply with company dress code guidelines.
  • Punctuality and regular, on-time attendance are required.
  • Must be able to develop and implement effective sales plans across a geographic territory as defined by regional management.
  • Must be able to qualify and follow-up on all leads within assigned territory and/or account portfolio.
  • Must be able to follow-up on all quotations within assigned territory and/or account portfolio.
  • Must demonstrate technical competence on all products and solutions within the area of focus.
  • Must be responsible for all sales activities within the assigned territory, focusing on control cabinet, machine mounted, and industrial networking solutions.
  • Must drive value-added custom solutions within the assigned account base, primarily industrial OEMs, local end users, and project business.
  • Must become proficient on all control cabinet, machine mounted, and industrial networking applications and solutions to be considered a market consultant.
