Job Description

This role involves developing and executing regional sales and marketing strategies, leading and coaching a high-performance sales team, building key customer relationships, and driving revenue growth within the industrial automation sector across specified territories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement regional sales and marketing strategies to meet growth objectives.
  • Lead and oversee the sales team and distribution partners to execute plans effectively.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key accounts and distribution channels.
  • Recruit, develop, and evaluate high-performing sales personnel.
  • Monitor and report on regional KPIs and sales performance to leadership.
  • Manage regional sales activities, including trade shows, seminars, and customer events.
  • Utilize CRM tools for planning, reporting, and tracking sales activities.
  • Maintain expertise in Phoenix Contact products and solutions, especially industrial automation.
  • Coordinate regional sales efforts with marketing and distribution channels to optimize support and growth.
  • Participate in regional industry associations and related activities.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree required; Engineering discipline preferred; MBA not required but preferred.
  • 5-7 years outside sales experience required.
  • Experience in working with industrial and automation distributors.
  • Experience with a customer relationship management software package.
  • Must be able to travel via airplane and overnight 35-50% as required by assigned territories.
  • Must have a valid driver s license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds (samples, demos, literature).
  • Must comply with company dress code guidelines.
  • Punctuality in all areas is required.
  • Timely reporting of expenses, activity, and major regional opportunities not to exceed two weeks.
  • Regular and on-time attendance.
  • Must be proficient in Windows-based applications Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work as a team player and influence within the business.
  • Must be able to read and write effectively within the entire Phoenix Contact organization.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain relationships at key accounts and distribution channel locations.
  • Must monitor and evaluate assigned KPIs for your area of responsibility and report to the Regional Sales Director on a monthly basis.
  • Must perform frequent and detailed performance reviews of all direct reports.
  • Must develop and maintain a working knowledge of all Phoenix Contact products and solutions, with specific emphasis on Industrial Control Cabinet and Automation solutions.
  • Must actively participate in regional industry associations and related activities.
  • Must plan, manage, and staff all sales promotion activities within the Region, such as trade shows, seminars, training classes, and customer-driven activities.
  • Must demonstrate initiative by understanding what actions need to be taken and completing the required tasks while seeking the perspective of others as required.
  • Must demonstrate honesty and forthrightness by taking responsibility for own mistakes, not blaming others, and fulfilling commitments.
  • Must handle change effectively through lifelong learning and being open-minded and curious in the face of new challenges.
  • Must be action-oriented and an agent for positive change.
