Job Description
This role involves developing and executing regional sales and marketing strategies to drive revenue growth, leading and coaching a high-performance sales team, building key customer relationships, and managing distributor channels within California and Nevada for industrial automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement regional sales and marketing strategies to achieve growth objectives.
- Lead and oversee the sales team and distribution partners to ensure effective plan execution.
- Build and maintain relationships with key accounts and distribution channels.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and evaluate high-performing sales personnel.
- Forecast, report, and analyze sales performance and KPIs to the Regional Sales Director.
- Manage sales promotion activities such as trade shows, seminars, and customer events.
- Utilize CRM tools for planning, reporting, and tracking sales activities.
- Maintain expertise in Phoenix Contact products and solutions, especially industrial control and automation.
- Review and optimize distributor channel support and regional business efficiencies.
- Participate in industry associations and regional activities to promote the company's presence.
Requirements
- Reside within the territory location of California and Nevada and be able to travel via airplane and operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time, including overnight travel of 35-50% as required by assigned territories.
- Have a valid driver’s license and be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds (samples, demos, literature).
- Hold a four-year degree; an engineering discipline is preferred.
- Have 5-7 years of outside sales experience.
- Experience working with industrial and automation distributors.
- Experience with a customer relationship management (CRM) software package.
- Demonstrate outstanding communication skills in written, verbal, and listening formats.
- Be action-oriented and an agent for positive change, with a customer-focused approach.
- Possess personal integrity and maturity.
- Be self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
- Be an innovator with the ability to be creative when faced with challenges.
- Have strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Proficient with Windows-based applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrate initiative by understanding what actions need to be taken and completing the required tasks while seeking the perspective of others as required.
- Take responsibility for own mistakes and not blame others, and fulfill commitments.
- Work as a team player to influence within the business and express gratitude and appreciation to others who provide information, assistance, or support.

- Be able to travel overnight 35-50% as required by assigned territories.
- Comply with company dress code guidelines.
- Maintain punctuality in all areas and report expenses, activity, and major regional opportunities timely, not exceeding two weeks.
- Maintain regular and on-time attendance.
- Be able to develop and maintain a working knowledge of all Phoenix Contact products, especially Industrial Control Cabinet and Automation solutions.
- Perform detailed performance reviews of all direct reports.
- Build and maintain relationships at key accounts and distribution channel locations, leading coordination of all sales and marketing activities related to accounts, personnel, distributors, and representatives within the assigned region.
