Job Description
A Quality Specialist oversees quality assurance processes, supports continuous improvement initiatives, conducts inspections and analyses, and ensures compliance with ISO standards in a manufacturing environment, with a hybrid work schedule requiring on-site presence three days a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and enhance quality assurance processes to meet standards and compliance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and develop inspection/test procedures.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection and testing equipment for accuracy.
- Conduct failure analysis, root cause analysis, and testing of materials and components.
- Prepare quality issue summaries, trend analyses, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support and contribute to the Quality Management System (QMS), including documentation and compliance.
- Participate in and lead design reviews and failure mode reviews.
- Conduct quality audits for processes and products to ensure standards compliance.
Requirements
- Associate degree preferred in relevant fields such as Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Business, or related areas.
- 3 years of relevant work experience preferred in quality assurance, manufacturing, or related fields.
- Knowledge of and skill with inspection and testing equipment.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management standards.
- Ability to interpret and use engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Relevant American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications such as CQT or CQA.
- IPC A-600 and A-610 certifications.
- Experience in electronics and soldering operations.
- Error-proofing knowledge.
- Knowledge of SAP or other enterprise-wide management software.
- Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to lift at least 35 pounds.
- Able to use a pallet jack with a 300-pound load.
- Able to use a portable staircase and climb to 12-foot heights.
- Able to carry 20-pound, 3 cubic feet boxes up and down portable staircase.
- Able to push a 4-wheeled cart with a 100-pound load.
- Able to work 8 hours of overtime a week if required.
- Able to stand or sit continually for two hours without break.
- Able to use a computer for two hours at a time without break.
- Good color vision.
- Must be able to speak, understand, and write in English.
- Willing to travel for training sessions 1 or 2 days a few times a year.
- Willing to travel to other Phoenix Contact sites once a year for training.
- Willing to travel to local suppliers a few times a year.
- Regular and on-time attendance.
