Job Description
The International Trade Compliance Specialist manages import operations and ensures regulatory compliance by coordinating with customs brokers, reviewing product classifications, monitoring customs requirements, and supporting trade security initiatives. The role involves analyzing import data, auditing transactions, and improving import procedures to maintain compliance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily import operations and ensure regulatory compliance
- Review and validate product classifications under HTS
- Monitor customs bond sufficiency and compliance
- Extract and analyze reports from ACE and identify discrepancies
- Support CTPAT security initiatives
- Audit import transactions and product data for accuracy
- Monitor items for AD CVD applicability
- Prepare proforma invoices as required
- Develop and maintain internal import process documentation
- Recommend and implement improvements to import procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in international trade compliance or import operations.
- Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, including CTPAT, General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs), HTS classification, and Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties (AD CVD).
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.
- Must be able to work extended hours on a computer.
- Must be able to withstand long periods up to 4 hours without a break.
- Must be able to work in a hybrid position requiring at least three days in the office.
- Must be willing to travel internationally.
- Regular and on-time attendance.
- Must be professional, ethical, and customer focused.
- Demonstrate high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and solve problems effectively.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Develop and maintain internal process documentation related to import procedures.
- Review and validate product classifications under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
- Review new parts setups and add import information.
- Monitor customs bond sufficiency and ensure compliance.
- Extract and analyze reports from the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).
- Identify and communicate discrepancies to customs brokers.
- Support Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) security initiatives.
- Audit import transactions and product data for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor items for Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties (AD CVD) applicability.
- Prepare proforma invoices as required.
- Develop and maintain internal process documentation and recommend improvements to import procedures.
