Job Description

The Facility Maintenance Technician II is a skilled professional responsible for performing complex maintenance tasks across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems, leading projects, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring safety and operational standards are met in large facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate complex maintenance projects across multiple facilities
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Mentor and train junior technicians, providing technical guidance and oversight
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes during maintenance activities
  • Manage vendor relationships and oversee contracted maintenance services
  • Perform general facility maintenance tasks such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and masonry repairs
  • Conduct preventative maintenance activities and system checks
  • Maintain equipment service logs using maintenance management software

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in large facility maintenance operations
  • Advanced knowledge of building systems and maintenance procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software (CMMS)
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work independently
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Willingness to obtain forklift and aerial lift certification (preferred)
  • Willingness to obtain CPR certification (preferred)
  • Limited Building Maintenance Electrician license or equivalent (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead troubleshooting efforts and mentor junior technicians
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours a day
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and PRN overtime
  • Must be able to handle extreme temperatures
  • Must be able to drive for up to 2 hours
  • Must be able to speak and understand English to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Regular and on-time attendance is mandatory
