The role involves leading the design, development, and integration of a turbogenerator system for marine energy harvesting devices, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to prototype, test, and deploy rotating machinery capable of operating in harsh ocean conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and integration of the Node's turbogenerator system
Define and own system-level performance requirements and design goals
Mechanically integrate the electrical generator with rotating components
Design and analyze components such as shafts, housings, bearings, seals, turbine blades, and stators
Select suitable materials and coatings for marine deployments
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system alignment
Design for manufacturability, offshore assembly, and in-field serviceability
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team
Oversee project documentation and create detailed drawings using GD T and tolerance analysis
Conduct root cause analysis and iterate designs based on testing data
Requirements
A degree in mechanical engineering, structural engineering, aerospace engineering, naval architecture, or similar.
Extensive experience designing rotating machinery such as pumps, turbines, compressors, turbochargers, etc., with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
3D CAD modeling experience using high-end tools like NX.
Strong understanding of GD T and tolerance stack-ups.
