Job Description
The Lead Fluids Engineer will provide technical leadership in designing and developing fluid systems for ocean energy devices, managing a team, and ensuring the performance and reliability of the core technology in harsh marine environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee fluid systems for the Node device throughout all project stages
- Build and lead a team responsible for fluid system design and development
- Conduct and participate in design reviews with internal teams and external vendors
- Mentor and guide engineers and designers to maintain technical excellence
- Manage project documentation and produce detailed engineering releases
- Collaborate with testing teams and external resources to ensure system performance and reliability
- Develop and maintain expertise in CAD and simulation software for fluid system design
Requirements
- A degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, naval architecture, marine engineering, or another related engineering discipline.
- Extensive experience designing components for fluid systems from a variety of materials for various applications.
- 10 years of 3D CAD modeling experience.
- 5 years experience with complex, safety critical, or high performance fluid systems.
- Strong fundamental skills with hand calculations and experience with simulation tools.
- Demonstrated experience building teams, leading, and mentoring other engineers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide guidance to and receive it from engineers, designers, technicians, and suppliers.
- A work history that includes at least five design, build, test, deploy release produce cycles for complex systems vehicles.
- Travel to vendors and test sites as needed.
- Intermittently able to work longer hours and weekends to support critical needs.
