The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for onsite troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of residential solar systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction throughout the system's lifespan.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair solar systems onsite
Document service visits and complete job closeout reports
Schedule site visits and coordinate with field teams and customers
Provide feedback to improve installation quality and execution
Assist with project closeout, permitting, and inspection processes
Perform site surveys, inspections, and document collection
Deliver high-quality service and installation work as the primary field representative
Maintain service level agreements (SLAs) for site visits
Conduct safety and quality audits, including job closeout reviews
Perform field installations of PV systems, storage, and structural upgrades
Support monitoring, site surveys, and partner training
Requirements
Electrical License only required in MA, a plus elsewhere
At least 3 years of experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential solar storage systems
General knowledge of residential home maintenance and repair, with the ability to go the extra mile in remediating customer issues beyond the scope of solar system maintenance
Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops, and work on your feet for long periods of time
Ability to work in extreme environments such as hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.
Electrical experience is a plus
At least 1 year of experience working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing repetitive duties such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time
Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the workday
Ability to safely handle and maintain basic hand and power tools used for installation
Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor
Attention to detail
Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
Must have a valid state driver’s license
Must have a clean driving record
