Job Description

The Field Service Technician at Palmetto is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting residential solar systems to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction, while also assisting with installation, inspections, and ongoing service needs throughout the system's lifespan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair solar systems onsite
  • Document service visits and complete job closeout reports
  • Schedule site visits with customers and coordinate with field teams
  • Provide feedback to improve installation quality and system performance
  • Assist with project closeout, permitting, and inspections
  • Perform site surveys, safety and quality audits, and job closeout reviews
  • Conduct field installations of PV, storage, and structural upgrades
  • Maintain service level agreements for site visits
  • Support operations and monitoring tasks
  • Perform damage assessments and claims investigations

Requirements

  • Electrical License only required in Massachusetts; having an electrical license elsewhere is a plus.
  • At least 3 years of experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential solar storage systems.
  • General knowledge of residential home maintenance and repair, with the ability to go the extra mile in remediating customer issues beyond the scope of solar system maintenance.
  • Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops, and be able to work on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in extreme environments such as hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.
  • At least 1 year of experience working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing repetitive duties such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely handle and maintain basic hand and power tools used for installation.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
