Job Description
The Corporate Counsel will serve as a key legal advisor supporting Palmetto's growth by managing commercial agreements, compliance, risk, and corporate initiatives, while collaborating across teams to ensure legal and regulatory adherence in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and establish positive relationships with business partners to advise on legal issues throughout the business lifecycle
- Maintain and negotiate core agreements with customers, partners, and vendors
- Structure, draft, and negotiate complex commercial agreements and key vendor contracts
- Oversee compliance with regulatory, licensing, and licensing matters
- Implement systems and processes to scale legal team capabilities
- Assess legal compliance and provide practical advice to internal stakeholders
- Collaborate across functions to deliver legal advice aligned with business objectives
- Manage consumer escalations and resolve disputes, including litigation and arbitration
- Develop and deliver legal training to personnel to promote compliance and risk management
Requirements
- Juris doctorate from an accredited law school admitted to at least one state bar in the U.S.
- Five or more years of legal experience in regulated businesses, with in-house counsel experience highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to learn on the job and develop in new areas of the law and drive new applications of existing laws to support innovation
- Motivated self-starter with a strong ownership mentality who creatively identifies and resolves issues
- Open to learning new aspects of in-house legal work and motivated by hands-on tasks
- Ability to prioritize and work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment while delivering at a high level with a collaborative, customer service approach
- Exceptional degree of integrity, ethics, and trust, with a highly professional demeanor and the ability to maintain confidence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
