Job Description
A senior-level DevOps and Site Reliability Engineer role focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure, automation, and monitoring systems to ensure reliability, security, and performance of Palmetto's renewable energy platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate cloud infrastructure on GCP and AWS to ensure resilience, security, and optimization.
- Build and maintain observability systems, monitor SLAs, SLOs, and service health metrics, and manage cloud costs.
- Lead incident response efforts, conduct post-mortems, and support on-call activities to maintain platform stability.
- Automate deployment pipelines, monitoring, alerting, and scaling processes to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering, IT, and security teams to meet operational, reliability, and compliance goals.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and shape the technical direction of infrastructure and DevOps practices.
Requirements
- Manage infrastructure on GCP or AWS with at least 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure management.
- Experience with Linux systems administration and scripting using Bash and Python.
- In-depth knowledge of DNS, TLS/SSL, CDNs, Load Balancing, and network security.
- Strong experience with Datadog and its tooling beyond simple application logs and traces, including log aggregation and monitoring best practices.
- Ability to assist teams with defining and monitoring Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and service health metrics.
- Thorough knowledge of CI/CD systems, specifically GitHub Actions.
- Deep expertise with Kubernetes and Docker.
- Familiarity with JavaScript build tools and package managers such as npm and Yarn.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages with a high required knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Experience automating deployment pipelines, monitoring, alerting, and scaling to improve reliability.
- Provide on-call support and incident response guidance to engineering teams, including post-mortem analysis.
- Collaborate with engineering, IT, and security teams to meet reliability, compliance, and operational goals.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for cloud technologies, DevOps best practices, and CI/CD processes.
