Job Description
The Senior Product Manager for Device Data Performance at Palmetto is responsible for developing and managing a platform that tracks, analyzes, and optimizes the performance of various clean energy assets, including solar and battery systems, by leading integrations, data modeling, performance monitoring, and user-facing data experiences to support the company's mission of accelerating clean energy adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage the strategy for ingesting device data from OEM partners, including integration negotiations and framework development.
- Own the data transformation layer to normalize heterogeneous device signals into standardized schemas and ensure data quality and reliability.
- Design and develop a self-service platform infrastructure that enables internal teams to access, query, and extend device data independently.
- Translate raw device data into actionable performance insights through monitoring and alerting systems to support operational teams.
- Oversee how device data is presented to homeowners, ensuring clear and meaningful energy performance experiences.
- Lead product strategy, roadmap, and planning, prioritizing platform investments and feature development based on stakeholder needs.
- Collaborate across teams to build, maintain, and improve the device data platform, ensuring alignment and adoption.
Requirements
- 7 years of product management experience, ideally in roles that required managing external integrations, data platforms, or IoT hardware-connected systems.
- Demonstrated track record of owning integration roadmaps including defining requirements, working with vendors or external partners, and driving toward favorable technical and contractual outcomes.
- Experience working on monitoring, alerting, or operational intelligence products that feed downstream workflows.
- Background in energy, clean tech, or hardware-adjacent industries is a strong plus.
- Curiosity about how energy hardware works is a must.
- Strategic thinker who can define the platform's direction over 12 to 24 months and write precise, actionable requirements for the next sprint.
- Strong project management instincts, comfortable managing complexity, tracking cross-functional dependencies, and keeping multiple workstreams moving simultaneously.
- Data fluency with the ability to use data to inform decisions, validate assumptions, and communicate impact; SQL proficiency or equivalent comfort with data tools is expected.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders and craft narratives that build alignment across business units.
- Collaborative partner who builds genuine relationships across engineering, operations, field teams, and external vendors.
- Genuinely curious about how things work, including understanding hardware, data pipelines, alerting logic, and downstream impact.
- Entrepreneurial by nature, energized by building from the ground up, comfortable starting from ambiguity, and motivated to prove what’s possible.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by the challenge of shaping a rapidly evolving platform.
- Bias for action, capable of moving quickly, making clear decisions, and holding oneself and the team accountable.
