Job Description
A Staff Accountant role supporting daily accounting operations, project financial tracking, and compliance for a renewable energy startup focused on battery storage projects in NYC.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and reconcile daily accounting transactions including AP, AR, bank activity, and intercompany transactions
- Prepare journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Manage project-level accounting for development, construction, and operational phases of battery storage sites
- Monitor and track fixed assets and depreciation schedules
- Prepare and file sales use tax and other compliance-related filings
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper cost coding and budget alignment
- Assist with annual audit and tax preparation
- Participate in ERP system implementation or enhancements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2 to 4 years of relevant accounting experience, either in public accounting or industry
- Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls
- Experience with project accounting or construction accounting is a plus
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a sense of ownership
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Benefits & Perks
Base salary range: $70,000 - $85,000 per year
Work schedule: Full-time, in-office, five days a week
