The Lead O M Technician oversees the operations and maintenance of solar projects, ensuring safety, quality, and performance across multiple sites, while providing technical leadership, troubleshooting, and team mentorship within a dynamic renewable energy company.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations of solar projects within a geographic region.
Engage with contractors and project stakeholders as the primary contact.
Support development and enforcement of safety, quality, and subcontractor management best practices.
Mentor and supervise the O M team to ensure accountability, quality, and safety standards.
Review construction operational requirements and suggest improvements to standards and procedures.
Coordinate communication between on-site staff, procurement, engineering, and administrative teams.
Lead troubleshooting, energization, commissioning, and performance testing activities.
Implement continuous improvements in operational methods and internal processes.
Ensure contractor adherence to health, safety, environmental, and contractual obligations.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree is preferred in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of Solar Operations & Maintenance (O M), construction, and/or technical project experience.
Demonstrated track record of success in solar energy or related field.
Strong attention to detail with organizational capacity to manage multiple employees and projects simultaneously.
A proven ability to provide high level of safety and expertise during high-risk activities like energization, testing, commissioning, and operational support.
Self-motivated with proven ability to take ownership, initiative, and accountability.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to manage competing priorities often across functional and operational lines.
Ability to contribute to an amicable working environment with other associates and employees.
Position requires frequent travel, approximately 25-50% in the field, depending on time of year.
Proficient PC computer skills and familiarity with MS Office and Windows.
Experience in construction management software Procore, Autodesk Build, MS Project, etc., is a benefit.
