The Accounts Payable Manager oversees and manages the company's accounts payable operations, ensuring accurate and timely payments, process improvements, and compliance within a fast-paced renewable energy company focused on solar projects.
Key Responsibilities
Own and manage the accounts payable process to ensure timely, accurate, and controlled payments to vendors.
Oversee full cycle accounts payable for solar construction and development projects, including invoice review and vendor setup.
Drive weekly payment execution, including preparation, review, approvals, and reporting.
Lead and coach the AP team to prioritize tasks, remove blockers, and maintain work quality.
Maintain relationships with vendors and stakeholders, resolving issues professionally and efficiently.
Manage AP controls, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and efficiency enhancements.
Support period-end close, audit readiness, and documentation for AP activities.
Oversee or manage the annual 1099 process for compliance and accuracy.
Partner with finance and project teams on AP-related deliverables, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Manage AP systems, tools, and integrations to support scalable and controlled operations.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, including 3 years of people team management experience.
Typically, 5 to 6 years of relevant experience in renewable, construction, or high-volume purchase order environments, including progressively increased scope in AP operations and/or ownership of AP programs workstreams.
Demonstrated ability to lead through accountability and influence with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to develop and mentor a team.
Strong knowledge of accounts payable operations and controls, and understanding of AP's impact on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Experience in an ERP system such as Sage Intacct or similar, with high comfort operating across interconnected systems.
Proven ability to prioritize, delegate where applicable, and drive results under competing deadlines in a high-volume environment.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills across stakeholder levels.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization.
Proactive and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to ask pointed questions to ensure clarity and consistency across business practices.
High proficiency in Office 365 tools, particularly Excel.
Must have a 'roll up your sleeves and let’s get the job done right' attitude, with integrity, credibility, and fiduciary responsibility.
