Job Description
The Field Engineer is responsible for overseeing solar construction projects, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance on-site, while coordinating with project stakeholders to deliver projects efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily construction activities on solar projects in the Midwest region.
- Engage with EPC contractors and project stakeholders as the primary on-site contact.
- Ensure safety, quality, and compliance standards are met on-site and remotely.
- Manage project schedule, budget, contractors, and resources.
- Review construction requirements during bid proposals and provide scope, budget, and schedule details.
- Facilitate communication between construction, procurement, engineering, and administrative teams.
- Analyze construction methods for value and efficiency improvements.
- Ensure contractor adherence to health, safety, environment, and quality plans.
- Prepare and communicate project status reports to management and stakeholders.
- Obtain necessary permits for project execution.
- Support future project delivery strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree is preferred in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of engineering, construction, and or technical project experience.
- Must carry an active driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to manage competing priorities often across functional and operational lines.
- Excellent PC computer skills and familiarity with MS Office and Windows.
- Position requires frequent travel, approximately 30 to 50 percent in the field, depending on time of year.
- Demonstrated track record of success in solar energy or related field.
- Strong attention to detail with organizational capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A proven ability to provide efficient, timely, and reliable service to project stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with proven ability to take ownership, initiative, and accountability.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to contribute to an amicable working environment with other associates and employees.
- Demonstrated qualities of integrity, credibility, and professional responsibility.
