Job Description
The Lead Data Platform Database Administrator is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing the company's data platforms, ensuring their availability, security, and performance, with a focus on IoT timeseries data related to solar and energy storage services.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the availability, reliability, recoverability, security, and performance of data platforms.
- Architect, implement, manage, and optimize robust data platforms.
- Ensure cost transparency, containment, and forecasting for data platforms.
- Develop, enhance, and update data platform processes and standards.
- Understand business and technical requirements for IoT timeseries data.
- Design and own data platform architecture solutions in collaboration with the Data Acquisition team.
- Lead critical projects on the Data Platform roadmap.
Requirements
- Experience owning the availability, reliability, recoverability, security, and performance of data platforms.
- Ability to architect, implement, manage, and optimize robust data platforms.
- Experience in managing cost transparency, containment, and forecasting for data platforms.
- Ability to own, enhance, and update Data Platform processes and standards.
- Understanding of business and technical requirements for IoT timeseries data.
- Experience owning data platform architecture solutions and working closely with Data Acquisition teams for cohesive architecture.
- Experience in understanding and translating company needs into data platform solutions.
- Ability to understand and manage critical projects on a Data Platform roadmap.
- Experience working within an engineering department or similar technical environment.
- Ability to report directly to a senior manager, such as a Director of Data Management and Information Security.
- Experience working with or managing data related to IoT timeseries data is preferred.
