Job Description
An intraday power trader at Octopus Energy Trading will be responsible for developing and executing trading strategies in the renewable energy market, leveraging innovative technology to optimize energy flexibility and contribute to the transition towards a Net Zero future.
Key Responsibilities
- Trade intraday energy markets to optimize grid flexibility and support renewable integration
- Develop and implement trading strategies to improve market efficiency and drive company growth
- Monitor market volatility and manage risk associated with renewables-based power sector fluctuations
Requirements
- Experience in intraday power trading within the energy or power sector.
- Strong understanding of energy markets, particularly renewables-based power sector volatility and challenges.
- Ability to develop and implement innovative trading strategies to improve market efficiency and support decarbonisation efforts.
- Proficiency in using trading technology and tools relevant to energy trading operations.
- Excellent analytical skills to assess market data and volatility to make informed trading decisions.
- Experience in managing or executing trades related to domestic EV charging, grid-scale batteries, or similar energy flexibility assets is preferred but not explicitly mandatory.
- Ability to work in a high-impact, dynamic environment requiring adaptability and unconventional thinking.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with a diverse team of market experts.
- Commitment to honesty, empathy, and ethical conduct in trading activities.
- Willingness to contribute to a team focused on innovative approaches to energy trading and decarbonisation.
