Job Description
The Autonomy Technical Program Manager at Nuro leads the development, integration, testing, and deployment of autonomous vehicle systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance through cross-functional collaboration and project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage autonomous system projects from concept to deployment, ensuring technical and performance standards are met.
- Coordinate development, integration, testing, and deployment of autonomous systems across cross-functional teams.
- Supervise development of behavior and decision-making algorithms for autonomous interaction.
- Oversee testing and validation of autonomous systems in real-world and simulated environments.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to sensors, localization, and system malfunctions.
- Communicate project progress, challenges, and mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
- Implement agile project management practices to meet technical milestones within timelines and budgets.
- Ensure system components meet quality standards and drive continuous improvements in efficiency and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics majors, or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of experience in managing technical projects related to autonomy or robotics, with a strong understanding of perception, behavior planning, localization, and mapping systems.
- Experience with autonomous AI systems development, including integrating hardware and software components.
- Strong knowledge of autonomous system algorithms, sensors such as LIDAR, cameras, radar, and data fusion techniques.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with engineering, product, and business teams.
- Strong understanding of agile project management principles and tools.
- Experience in taking a program from initial concept to launch.
- Experience with simulation, testing, and validation methodologies for autonomous systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex, high-risk technical challenges.
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to autonomy, including sensor failures, inaccurate localization, or system malfunctions.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
