Job Description
A Machine Learning Software Engineer responsible for developing and implementing online mapping models and algorithms for autonomous vehicle navigation, working with real-world sensor data and collaborating across teams to improve robot mapping systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, develop, and implement online mapping models and algorithms.
- Analyze and evaluate the performance of online mapping systems to identify improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mapping models into centralized architectures.
Requirements
- Proven record of solving in-production ML problems and making tradeoffs between data, model and evaluation.
- Deep understanding of ML fundamentals with hands-on experience in training and evaluating modern ML models with applications in autonomous vehicles, robotics, mapping, computer vision, or related areas.
- Experience with robotics-related ML applications, including 3D geometry.
- Strong Python skills with experience in deep learning frameworks, e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Jax.
- Ability to build robust ML and/or mapping systems that work with real data such as cameras and LiDAR in uncertain environments.
- Experience in analyzing and characterizing the performance of online mapping systems, and identifying opportunities for architecture, data, or evaluation improvements in an end-to-end ML system.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with other ML teams to integrate models into centralized architectures.
- Experience collaborating with stakeholders across autonomy, infrastructure, and systems teams on online mapping needs and requirements.
