Job Description
A Controls Engineer at Nuro is responsible for developing and integrating control software for autonomous vehicles, focusing on vehicle dynamics, safety standards, and collaboration across engineering teams to advance self-driving technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop robust, reliable, and optimized production-level control software adhering to safety standards ISO 26262
- Create coupling mechanisms between planner and controller for expanded operational design domain (ODD) including parking and highway driving under various conditions
- Investigate machine learning techniques to improve vehicle dynamics, feedback policies, and vehicle performance
- Develop vehicle motion monitors to ensure trajectory tracking and actuator control meet functional safety requirements
- Collaborate with hardware, software, autonomy, vehicle testing, and system teams to integrate control systems
Requirements
- MS in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, aerospace, robotics, or closely related fields with focus on Controls
- 3 years of experience in development of L2 or higher level automated driving controls software and integration with vehicle platform s
- Implementation of classical and modern controls methods and or Machine Learning for Controls
- Strong embedded C preferred or C programming skills
- Proven ability to collaborate within and across teams
- Effective oral and written communication skills

Compensation/salary range: $193,930 to $352,290 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills
