Job Description
The role involves developing and scaling backend systems and onboard modules for Nuro's autonomous driving routing services, focusing on optimizing routing algorithms, infrastructure, and deployment to ensure safe and efficient navigation for self-driving vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and scale backend systems and onboard modules for routing services
- Design microservices and optimize routing algorithms
- Understand and manage road network graphs for efficient routing
- Develop monitoring and analytics infrastructure
- Collaborate with product, strategy, and operations teams to design user experiences and define product strategy
Requirements
- At least 3-5 years of experience building and scaling realtime server-side applications.
- Experience working on large-scale complex algorithm problems, and know how to balance correctness and performance.
- Proficiency in C programming.
- Ability to choose the right storage technology for the job, with experience in relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, non-relational databases like BigTable, Cassandra, Redis, and data warehouses such as BigQuery and Snowflake.
- Experience with RPC frameworks such as gRPC and Thrift.
- Experience with pubsub systems including Kafka, Cloud PubSub, and Celery.
- Experience in training and inferencing machine learning models.
- Extensive experience working with cloud providers such as GCP and AWS.
- Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes, or willingness to learn.
- Strong technical skills with a love for learning new technologies and a quick learning ability.
- Passion for making lives easier for developers by building tooling for troubleshooting, debugging, and profiling applications.
- Ability to make appropriate tradeoffs between quick-and-dirty solutions and scalable approaches.
- Ability to work closely with product and design teams to build the best product for users.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with PMs, UXRs, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
