Job Description
The role involves designing and developing sensor and compute systems for autonomous vehicles, including creating hardware-agnostic platforms, ensuring software reliability, and collaborating across teams to advance Nuro's self-driving technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop sensor and compute systems for robotics
- Architect and deploy autonomous software with high reliability and performance on embedded SOCs
- Monitor metrics, automate testing, and collaborate with vendors to ensure reliable software
- Debug complex embedded and real-time systems to identify and resolve failure modes
- Lead cross-functional projects related to sensors and compute for autonomous vehicles
- Mentor software engineers to enhance their skills and capabilities
Requirements
- Six (6) years of experience with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field
- Four (4) years of experience with a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field
- Proven ability to deep dive into complex embedded and real-time systems
- Strong proficiency in C programming, with emphasis on concurrency and system software development
- Experience in developing device drivers and understanding Linux kernel-level algorithmic correctness and performance optimization
- Experience in robotics or autonomous driving systems
- Ability to debug complex systems, root-cause failure modes, and deploy effective solutions
- Experience in designing and developing sensor and compute systems for robotics
- Ability to architect and/or deploy Nuro sensors and autonomous software with high reliability and performance on embedded SOCs
- Experience with metrics monitoring, automated testing, and vendor collaboration to deliver reliable software
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders
