Job Description
A Senior Research Engineer responsible for developing and validating collision avoidance models and tools for autonomous vehicles, focusing on assessing and mitigating collision risks through simulation and real-world data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess conflict scenarios by developing tools to quantify collision risk
- Identify and analyze collision-related risks from functional insufficiencies
- Develop methods and software to evaluate collision risk in real-world and simulated scenarios
- Model crash dynamics and predictive behavior of agents to assess collision severity
- Evaluate, track, and report collision risks, providing strategic recommendations for improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate risks and requirements
Requirements
- 5 years of technical work experience in a relevant area, of which 3 years should be in robotics software research and development offboard or onboard
- Experience with both simulation and on-road testing of autonomous vehicles using well-defined metrics to score good driving behavior
- Strong algorithmic problem solving skills
- Proficiency in Python programming
- Highly collaborative with strong abilities to think and communicate analytically and effectively, both verbal and written
- Self-starter and fast learner, passionate about picking up new skills and approaching unstructured problems from first principles
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload to meet critical project deadlines
