Job Description
The Autonomous Vehicle Operator is responsible for safely operating Nuro's autonomous test vehicles, collecting data, troubleshooting, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve autonomous driving technology, while ensuring safety and adherence to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate autonomous test vehicles safely for up to 8 hours daily
- Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to improve technologies and workflows
- Utilize proprietary software to collect data and troubleshoot real-world situations
- Provide detailed feedback to engineering teams based on vehicle operation
- Interact with the public to educate them about autonomous vehicle technologies
Requirements
- Have a current valid California driver's license and have been in possession of a US license for at least 3 years
- Have a clean driving record and pass a criminal background check
- Be responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Be able to work independently or in small groups and for periods without direct supervision
- Have advanced communication skills, both written and verbal
- Be self-driven with experience working in a start-up or dynamic environment, or possess the DNA to thrive in one
- Be collaborative and team-oriented
- Be able to reliably work the PM shift from 2:15 pm to 10:45 pm Pacific Time, Monday through Friday, and occasionally on weekends as needed
- Be physically capable of performing duties including bending, squatting, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds on a regular basis
- Able to sit for up to 8 hours per day in an enclosed vehicle, alone or with a co-driver
- Able to perform side, up, down movements of the head, neck, back, and shoulders necessary to operate a vehicle safely
- Able to work in a vehicle that may brake, swerve, slow, or stop abruptly
- Able to hold and grasp with hands and use foot pedals frequently when driving the vehicle
Benefits & Perks
Compensation at a base hourly rate of $24 per hour, with potential for future increases based on experience, education, location, and skills
Yearly bonus based on individual and company performance
Work schedule from 2:15 pm to 10:45 pm Pacific Time, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends
