Job Description

The Senior Internal Auditor at Nexamp is responsible for conducting compliance audits related to labor laws, prevailing wage requirements, and project documentation, ensuring regulatory adherence and risk mitigation within the company's clean energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits of Inflation Reduction Act projects and ensure compliance with related regulations
  • Review certified payroll records, fringe benefits, and apprenticeship documentation for accuracy and compliance
  • Collect, organize, and analyze payroll data and reports to support compliance determinations
  • Complete compliance audits, calculate underpayments, restitution, fines, and penalties
  • Investigate noncompliance complaints related to prevailing wages, fringe benefits, and apprenticeships
  • Develop and implement processes to maintain audit readiness and ensure complete, accurate PWA documentation
  • Monitor updates to labor laws, prevailing wage determinations, and apprenticeship standards and incorporate changes into procedures
  • Report on internal audit metrics, findings, trends, and risk exposure
  • Maintain contractor compliance profiles and manage documentation
  • Interface with contractors, internal teams, clients, and government agencies to resolve compliance issues
  • Audit domestic content documentation for federal compliance and escalate risks or gaps

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in auditing, investigations, labor compliance, regulatory compliance, or related compliance-focused work.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Legal Studies, Human Resources, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct, and document audits and investigations related to regulatory or contractual compliance matters, including preparing clear, organized, and defensible findings and reports.
  • Ability to interpret technical materials, statutes, regulations, compliance guidance, contracts, and related documentation, and apply requirements to specific business or project conditions.
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing payroll, contract, invoice, or other compliance-related documentation to identify discrepancies, risks, or noncompliance issues.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to gather, organize, analyze, and maintain large volumes of data with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience using data analysis tools and information management systems.
  • Ability to prepare professional audit reports, investigative summaries, compliance correspondence, and executive-ready documentation.
