Job Description

The OT Systems Engineer at Nexamp is responsible for supporting and optimizing the real-time operations of renewable energy assets by managing SCADA systems, cloud infrastructure, and OT environments to ensure high system availability, security, and performance in a mission-driven clean energy company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support SCADA applications and data historians, including updates, troubleshooting, and user support
  • Deploy, configure, program, and maintain SCADA systems for renewable energy sites
  • Maintain and optimize OT infrastructure, including Windows Server environments and virtual machines in Azure
  • Collaborate with NOC to ensure continuous SCADA availability and resolve system issues
  • Design and implement infrastructure and application monitoring solutions
  • Support security patching and maintain secure system configurations in partnership with Cybersecurity
  • Support compliance activities related to NERC CIP and industry standards
  • Ensure reliable telemetry, data integrity, and remote control of field assets

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is a must-have.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience in implementing, maintaining, and supporting critical infrastructure within a Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining network architecture diagrams for Operational networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to tune application, databases, and or infrastructure parameters to enhance system performance, reliability, and availability.
  • Experience in managing Windows environment for Server Administration, Active Directory, Group policy, and system hardening best practices.
  • Good understanding of networking principles, including firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and routing in Operational Technology (OT) environments.
  • Proficiency with operational and analytical software tools, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and database platforms such as Microsoft Access or similar.
  • Availability to work outside of regular hours, including participation in an on-call rotation as required.
  • Ability to support the deployment, configuration, programming, and ongoing maintenance of SCADA systems for renewable energy sites, including integration with field equipment and telemetry.
  • Experience supporting SCADA application support, Azure infrastructure, and OS administration, including software updates, troubleshooting, and user support.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure monitoring and supporting NERC CIP compliance activities.
  • Experience managing and supporting Azure cloud services, including deployment and administration of virtual machines, networking, and monitoring services.
  • Experience with managing Windows Server environments, including virtual machines, network configurations, and system performance tuning.
  • Experience with managing OT equipment such as servers, RTACs, routers, and switches critical to SCADA and telemetry operations.
  • Experience with security patching, maintaining secure system configurations, and collaborating with cybersecurity teams to ensure OT asset security.
  • Experience in supporting real-time data flow, telemetry, and remote control of field assets.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, identify root causes of system issues, and present creative solutions.
  • Strong ownership mentality, accountability, and initiative to improve current work, processes, products, and services.
  • Ability to build strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty.
