Job Description

The role involves leading the Asset Management Accounting team to oversee financial reporting, internal controls, and operational processes for Nexamp's solar and storage assets, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and supporting strategic decision-making in the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting for solar and storage assets, including project-level entities, partnerships, and tax structures.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition, ASC 842 Lease Accounting, and partnership accounting standards.
  • Lead and manage the Asset Management Accounting team through goal setting, delegation, and communication.
  • Enhance financial operations, internal controls, and reporting processes through system automation and process improvements.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams on portfolio transactions, reporting, and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain and control project accounting and reporting in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS, and company policies.
  • Partner with other departments to ensure models reflect performance, policy changes, and cash flow impacts.
  • Oversee preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Manage investor reporting, cash management, and distributions to ensure compliance with debt and return requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or finance.
  • 7-12 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 5 years in public accounting.
  • Experience in renewable energy, project-based accounting, or infrastructure is strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP with a focus on renewable energy accounting, including PPAs, RECs, HLBV, tax equity, and project finance structures.
  • Expertise in financial reporting, consolidations, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite or comparable ERP system and advanced Excel and Power BI capabilities.
  • Experience in managing external audits and ensuring clean audit opinions.
  • Ability to interpret complex contracts and accounting guidance in a fast-growing, multi-entity organization.

  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to develop accounting talent.
  • Experience in managing external audits and ensuring clean audit opinions.
  • Ability to interpret complex contracts and accounting guidance in a fast-growing, multi-entity organization.
