The Senior Analyst, FP&A at New Leaf Energy is responsible for driving financial planning, forecasting, modeling, and performance reporting to support the company's renewable energy projects and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Optimize and manage the FP&A system to ensure accurate reporting, forecasting, and analysis.
Lead the annual budgeting, monthly, and quarterly forecasting processes.
Build and maintain complex financial models for forecasting and scenario analysis.
Analyze variances between actuals, forecasts, and budgets to identify trends and risks.
Collaborate with departments to analyze and challenge financial forecasts.
Prepare financial review materials for executive leadership and the Board.
Own near-term cash flow forecasting and manage financial instruments such as letters of credit and performance bonds.
Requirements
Five (5) years of experience in related roles such as financial planning, forecasting, modeling, or performance reporting.
Bachelor's Degree in a technical, accounting, or finance discipline.
Advanced proficiency managing and using an FP&A tool to support a complex business, including understanding of data structures, report generation, scenario management, and integration with Excel.
Strong-to-expert level financial modeling skills, including building and maintaining complex 3-statement financial models driven by operating business inputs, and performing ad-hoc modeling of other business areas.
Demonstrable understanding of GAAP accounting principles and the ability to work with colleagues to understand key accounting implications for the business and apply those in modeling and analysis.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial data and strategic recommendations clearly, concisely, and confidently to senior leadership.
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment, partner effectively with business colleagues, and own the message and analysis.
Ability to operate independently and be self-motivated in a fast-paced private equity environment.
Highly intellectually curious with a drive to continuously explore and learn about the business and how individual work relates to colleagues’ work.
Solutions-oriented with a practical approach to developing initial solutions quickly and evolving them through continuous improvement.
Experience leading the process for the annual budget, monthly quarterly forecast, and long-range planning cycles.
Experience building and maintaining complex financial models required for forecasting and planning, including performing scenario planning and what-if analyses.
Experience analyzing variances between actuals, forecasts, and budgets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Experience collaborating closely with departments such as Project Development and Project Finance Sales to analyze and challenge forecast updates.
Experience preparing monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc financial review materials for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
Experience owning near-term cash forecasting, including collaborating with colleagues in Project Development, Project Finance Sales, and Accounting to maintain accurate and credible projections.
Experience managing the process for identifying and managing financial instruments such as letters of credit and performance bonds through their lifecycle.
