Job Description
The Senior Onboard Software Engineer will develop and maintain on-orbit software that monitors and controls satellite systems, including flight environments, external interfaces, and high-level vehicle functions, supporting the deployment and operation of space missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain on-orbit onboard software for space systems.
- Monitor and control major space program elements, including flight products and computational environments.
- Interface with external equipment such as imagers, RF, ISL, and spacecraft bus systems.
- Implement and support high-level vehicle services like file transfer, time synchronization, automation, scheduling, attitude control, and navigation.
- Ensure onboard software architecture supports reuse across multiple satellite programs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in developing onboard software for space systems or related aerospace applications.
- Strong programming skills in relevant languages such as C, C++, or Python, with the ability to develop, test, and maintain onboard software components.
- Experience with monitoring and control of space program elements, including flight products computational environments, physical and virtual processors.
- Ability to interface with external equipment such as imagers, RF systems, ISL, and spacecraft bus systems.
- Familiarity with high-level vehicle services and functions including file transfer, time synchronization, automation, scheduling, attitude control, and navigation.
- Demonstrated understanding of onboard architecture and the reuse of services across satellite programs.
- Strong communication skills in English, capable of conveying complex ideas clearly and effectively within an international team.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to address and resolve technical challenges related to onboard software systems.
